Farhad's Journey Back to School

About This Success Story

Farhad Hossain, along with his parents, lived in a slum near New Market in the Jashore Municipality area. His father was a rickshaw puller, and his mother worked as a domestic helper. Their combined income was just enough to support the family. Farhad regularly attended school.

However, his father fell ill, forcing him to stop pulling rickshaws. His mother, overburdened with household chores and caring for her sick husband, also had to quit her job. With both parents out of work, the family plunged into deep poverty. Farhad was forced to drop out of school and started working at a nearby garage called "Arman Engineering Workshop" to earn a meager income.

The work at the garage was demanding and risky. As a helper to a senior mechanic, Farhad was often scolded for even the slightest mistake. He suffered several injuries while working. Despite the harsh conditions, Farhad missed school dearly. Every day, he would see children of his age going to and from school, which filled him with longing.

One day, an ARKTF worker visited the garage and learned about Farhad's desire to return to school. When the worker asked Farhad's parents about enrolling him back in school, they expressed their inability due to their financial constraints. ARKTF arranged free medical treatment for Farhad's parents at a government hospital. With improved health, Farhad's mother could resume her work and agreed to send him back to school.

However, the headmaster of the local school refused to admit Farhad without a school uniform, shoes, socks, and a bag. ARKTF provided these essentials, and Farhad was finally enrolled in the third grade.

Presently, Farhad happily attends school, wearing his new uniform and carrying his schoolbag. His eyes sparkle with joy, promising a bright future.
